This year's theme, "A Lifetime of Discovery", encourages local parks and recreation organizations during the month of July to show their communities that they offer so much more than playgrounds, rec centers, sports leagues and summer camps. It's your chance to highlight some undiscovered offerings such as STEM programming, senior programs, innovative health and wellness opportunities, outdoor education and more! The National Recreation & Park Association has provided a toolkit with the materials you need to promote Park and Recreation Month.
June 18-24, 2018 was National Pollinator Week which focused on raising public awareness of the current pollinator crisis, encouraging local action, and positioning parks and recreation agencies as leaders in advancing pollinator health! The World's Largest Swimming Lesson was held June 21, 2018. The event, created by the World Waterpark Association, serves as a platform to help the aquatics industry work together to build awareness about the importance of teaching children to swim to prevent drowning. On this day, aquatics centers and pools all over the globe hosted a swimming lesson to help spread awareness that #SwimLessonsSaveLives. Our CommunityPass All Star for June is the Recreation Division from the City of Plainfield, New Jersey. The Recreation Division in the City of Plainfield has done a great job marketing their recreation programs to their community. We recently spotted their "Parks Make Life Better!" banner prominently displayed in town.
